What is COMENIUS ?

The COMENIUS component of the SOCRATES  program has as its general objectives the consolidation of the European dimension in the field of education at all the levels of pre-university education through the encouragement of transnational co-operation between schools, facilitating the general access to education, promoting opportunity equality, qualitatively and quantitatively improvement of foreign languages study within the European Community, promoting multicultural approaches, co-operation and mobility within the field of education, as well as encouraging innovation as afar as the teaching strategies and informational techniques are involved.

COMENIUS allows primary, secondary and high schools from different countries to exchange information and learning experiences and allows pupils and teachers from different countries to know each other.

HANDS ON EUROPE - A PATH TO AN EUROPEAN EDUCATION

The outcomes of the Comenius school project "Hands on Europe" will:

     - enable teachers and children to get to know each other thus encouraging good teamwork and intercultural understanding;
- facilitate maximum participation by children by involving as wide a cross-section as possible;
- enable the participating teachers and children to make decisions, solve problems and develop an increased understanding of the ways of representing information;
- enable the integration of european culture/language awareness programmes with the regular activities of the school.
